July 1st - Visited the CCTV Control Centre at DEOS offices in Stretton Way to review the monitoring of Okell Drive. CCTV has proven to be a very valuable tool in helping to tackle anti-social behaviour but we still need to do more to address the underlying problem and provide a greater range of facilities for young people to encourage them to engage in more constructive activities.
Attended the Cabinet meeting in the afternoon to hear their views on the Building Schools for the Future proposals which were approved by Cabinet for submission to DfES, still disappointed this will not be debated by full Council although the proposals appear to offer the best way forward it would have been helpful to everyone I believe to have sought the endorsement of the plans from a wider audience.
