Oct 5th - A busy day with back to back meetings most of the afternoon! Started with a meeting with the Corporate Assesment Team (CAT) to feedback their thoughts on the self assesment document submitted by the Council as part of the Corporate Performance Assesment process.

From there I went straight to New Hutte school for a Governor's meeting to discuss the announcement yesterday by the LEA to close the school and amalgamate with Roseheath to form a new school on the Roseheath site. It is very disappointing that the school will close and we felt let down that our case had fallen on deaf ears but reluctantly accepted the report. It is vital that the Council now makes a clear commitment to the future regeneration of the Torrington Drive area.

Joined Cllr Sue Smith at Hollies Hall for a resident's surgery, nobody came to see us! Guess no one has any problems!! From there I went to Prescot for a local party meeting with colleagues where we discussed the proposals for the primary schools and agreed to hold a special Group meeting on Sat 16th October to discuss our response to the report before the full Council meeting on Oct 21st.
