Friday 10th February 2006 - In his victory speech Mr Rennie said: “Tonight the voters of Dunfermline and West Fife have sent a powerful message to Downing Street that will rock the foundations of both No 10 and No 11.
“Labour has taken the people for granted up and down the country for too long. It is time Tony Blair and Gordon Brown both got the message — too much spin and not enough delivery. The Lib Dems are now the major challenger to Labour in their heartland.”

Yes I am being smug but after seeing the next Prime Minister waking up to the fact the he will be represented in the House of Commons by a Lib Dem MP after al the bad headlines of recent weeks this is a HUGE lift to our morale and I for one intend to milk it!!!

By all means milk it.Although I didn't recall Labour returning to opposition after far larger swings in Hodge Hill,Leicester or Brent.
Indeed, the counting tables on Merseyside groaned under the weight of Labour votes in the 2005 GE,much to the surprise of the LDs I'm sure.
Wasn't Ming disappointing on Question Time? I thought for a minute a BBC caretaker had wondered into the studio by mistake.
