Mixed emotions........

Thursday 2nd March 2006 - Delighted with the news this afternoon that the new Party Leader was Sir Menzies Campbell who I had been campaigning for during the leadership contest, but disappointed this evening with the result from the Whiston Town Council by-election result where our candidate - Mike Lappin - lost by only 12 votes.

However, 19 postal votes were not allowed to be included by the Returning Officer due in the most part due to a mistake on behalf of the Council so this result may well yet still be open to a legal challenge!! Watch this space.!!

Comments:
Excellent news, combined with Labour's gain from the LD's in Sefton, and Labour's convincing by election win in Whiston last year. The omens are good.

Now, we just need to make a start on those leaflets about the LDs privatising the post office :)

A majority of 12 hardly represents a convincing win!!!

And at leats our plans for the Royal Mail provide a long term and sustainable solution to the endless closures of Post Ofices under New Labour.

But hey thanks for keeping us amused with yur anonymous comments, shame you do not have the courage of your convictions to identify yourself and engage in soem real debate though!!

Err actually I was referring to Labour's very easy win in last year's Whiston Council by election.

'Post Office-Privatisation' Those two words together will get the pulses racing.I'm sure you can waste leaflet space filling in the details- you know how that works, don't you?

Where's the courage in stating facts? Labour have defeating the LDs in two Whiston by elections in less than 8 months, beaten the LDs in Sefton and the LDs are set to part privatise the post office.Anonymous or not those are facts.

Incidentally, as Ming has stated he wants to drop the 50p tax rate you can take off your 'Axe The Tax ' link.I mean, it was THAT 50p tax rate that was intended to help pay for a local income tax, wasn't it?
